In a statement issued on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, the faction’s National Publicity Secretary, Musa Isa Matara, made it clear that the ADC “is not for sale.”

Matara criticized what he described as an attempt by political elites to hijack the party for personal and strategic interests, stating that neither the party’s stakeholders—such as state executives, youth and women leaders, nor ward coordinators—were consulted before the coalition announcement.

“We caution those attempting to enter the ADC under this forced arrangement to tread carefully,” Matara warned. “A handful of individuals are trying to trade away the soul of our party for personal gain.”

He reaffirmed that the ADC belongs to its members—not political merchants or elite dealmakers—and rejected any arrangement not sanctioned by the party’s leadership.

While the faction expressed openness to future alliances, Matara emphasized that any form of collaboration must respect internal party processes and grassroots involvement. He further discredited appointments made during the coalition meeting, saying they lack legitimacy, having not been approved by the ADC’s National Executive Committee or ratified at a national convention.

He also refuted claims that the ADC has become the platform for a “National Opposition Coalition Group,” calling such assertions misleading and undemocratic.

“Our millions of members have not been briefed or involved in this so-called coalition,” Matara said. “Any attempt to force a merger without grassroots consensus violates democratic principles and undermines the party’s autonomy.”
