Drug Trafficking Foiled: NDLEA Recovers UK-Bound Consignment, Opioids, And Arms [Photos]

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted a shipment of Loud, a synthetic strain of cannabis, concealed in a duvet and intended for export to the United Kingdom via the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

This was revealed in a statement issued by NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, on Sunday.

Two suspects, Adakole Sunday and Austin Balogun, were arrested on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, in connection with the seized consignment, which contained six parcels of the psychoactive substance weighing 3.5 kilograms.

During questioning, Austin Balogun, identified as the principal agent, admitted to receiving ₦700,000 for the shipment, claiming the majority of the funds were used for export handling fees and securing an apartment.

Nationwide Raids and Seizures

In Ikorodu, Lagos, NDLEA operatives stormed a hideout in the Igbo Olumo area, arresting two suspects, Joseph Oluwasegun Adewale and Biodun Adelakun. Items recovered included seven liters of skuchies—a psychoactive cocktail made with black currant, cannabis, and opioids—as well as weapons:

  • Three locally made double-barrel rifles
  • One locally made double-barrel pistol
  • One English-made pistol
  • One locally made single-barrel rifle
  • Three cartridges
  • One empty 9mm cartridge
  • An iron-head axe

Meanwhile, another operation in Mushin on Sunday, January 19, led to the confiscation of 47 kilograms of skunk, a potent cannabis strain, and 25.46 kilograms of nitrous oxide (commonly known as laughing gas) from the notorious Akala area.
