Kayode Adebayo, the PDP’s Ogun State Publicity Secretary, issued the statement on Monday, confirming Adebutu’s detention. He explained that Adebutu had been invited by the DSS for questioning regarding incidents that occurred during the local government elections on Saturday, November 16, 2024.

Adebayo clarified that the charges against Adebutu have not yet been disclosed. He reassured PDP members and supporters to remain calm, noting that Adebutu himself has expressed confidence in the legal process and called for peace.

“Our leader has urged all party members, supporters, and well-wishers to stay calm, reassuring everyone that this challenge is temporary and a part of the democratic process,” Adebayo said.

Despite efforts to secure Adebutu’s release, including requests for bail either on personal recognition or with a surety, there had been no success by 10:00 p.m. on Monday. Adebayo added that Adebutu’s legal team had been informed and would take further steps to address the matter on Tuesday morning.

The PDP has also called on its members and the general public to remain peaceful and patient as the situation unfolds.
