Olukoyede revealed that the dismissals took place two weeks ago and reiterated that any EFCC employees found to be involved in illegal activities would not only face dismissal but also prosecution. He stressed the importance of upholding the highest standards of integrity, particularly for those fighting corruption.
“Fighting corruption requires clean hands. You cannot combat corruption with dirty hands,” Olukoyede remarked. “Just two weeks ago, I initiated the dismissal of two staff members. It’s not enough to remove them from their positions; we will also prosecute them. After all, we prosecute others for the same offenses.”
The EFCC Chairman also emphasized the necessity of integrity in legal practice, reflecting on his own experience during a two-year investigation as EFCC Secretary. He further pointed out that he had issued a directive limiting prosecutions to a maximum of 15 charges, aiming to streamline the legal process.
