According to Wahab, the decision follows extensive consultations and engagements held over the past 18 months with marketers and manufacturers of single-use plastic products.

“The Lagos State Government will commence full enforcement of the ban on Single-Use Plastics (SUPs) from July 1, 2025,” the statement read. “We’ve adopted a deliberate and strategic approach through months of stakeholder dialogue and transitional support. The time for action is now.”
