Edema, through his campaign organization, criticized the state government’s silence on the distribution process. Oluwatosin Ayeni, spokesperson for the Olugbenga Edema Campaign Organization, claimed that only members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have benefited from the aid.
Ayeni emphasized that all residents, regardless of party affiliation, should receive fair access to the palliatives. He pointed out President Bola Tinubu’s recent revelation that over N500 billion was allocated to states to ease the citizens’ hardship, demanding an explanation from Aiyedatiwa regarding the distribution of Ondo State’s share.
“The evidence shows that Governor Aiyedatiwa has restricted the rice and other palliatives from the Federal Government to APC members only. These resources were meant to help all citizens affected by the APC-led administration’s policies, not just a select political group,” the statement read.
In response, Kayode Fasua, Information Director for the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot Soldiers Independent Council (LACO-FSIC), dismissed the allegations as unfounded. “These claims are baseless, especially given that the governor has assured the people of Ondo State that the palliatives are being distributed fairly across all 18 local government areas,” Fasua stated.
