Senator Okpebholo, who also serves as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Public Procurement, expressed his commitment to revitalizing the state across various sectors, aiming to restore Edo to its former status as a hub of ongoing construction projects. In his address, he acknowledged former Governor Adams Oshiomhole as his leader and bemoaned the perceived stagnation in the state’s progress since Oshiomhole’s departure from office in 2016.

Highlighting his vision for Edo, Okpebholo emphasized the need for comprehensive development, stating, “Edo is set for greatness again, and it is time to repair Edo and effect change so that Edo can regain its lost glory.” He pledged to utilize the resources of the state to fund projects that would transform the landscape, offering assurances of employment creation, hospital construction, provision of clean drinking water, development of quality roads, and other initiatives aimed at improving the overall well-being of Edo residents.

Drawing attention to the perceived halt in development during the previous administration, Okpebholo asserted, “If you look at development in Edo, it stopped during the time of Adams Oshiomhole’s regime. But I can assure you that with me in Osadebey Avenue, a lot of changes will come, and I’m going to make Edo a beautiful city.”

The APC aspirant also garnered support from party leaders and a sizable crowd of supporters present at the declaration event. Acknowledging his track record and commitment to the state’s welfare, several leaders pledged their support for Okpebholo’s governorship ambition, expressing confidence in his ability to work in the best interest of Edo state.
