Expressing his concern during the visit, Obi lamented the heightened insecurity prevailing in the nation and called on the Federal Government to prioritize the protection of Nigerians’ lives. He further emphasized the need for the government to address the growing number of individuals seeking refuge within the country, asserting that it is unacceptable for citizens to be displaced in their homeland.

The attack on Christmas Eve resulted in a devastating toll, with a reported 195 casualties. Among them, 148 lives were lost in Bokkos Local Government Area, 19 in Mangu Local Government Area, and 27 in Barkin Ladi. Additionally, the aftermath witnessed the destruction of 1,290 houses in Bokkos council and one house in Mangu LGA. Peter Obi’s visit and donation underscore his commitment to offering support to those affected by the tragic events and his advocacy for a more secure and compassionate nation.
