At a one-day workshop in Benin, Edo State’s capital, Dr. Anugbum Onuoha, the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, represented by INEC Administrative Secretary Emmanuel Ogbodu, encouraged young people to engage positively in the election process. Onuoha highlighted the importance of youth participation in strengthening the democratic process.
“INEC values the contribution of young people and aims to empower them as key players in our democracy,” Onuoha said.
NOA Director Osahon Woghiren condemned the practice of using youths as political thugs and called on them to resist such exploitation. He urged the youth to support INEC’s efforts in conducting transparent and fair elections.
NYSC State Director Ifeoma Ben-Ushie also urged youths to steer clear of involvement in electoral fraud.
Furthermore, INEC has published the final voter register for the upcoming Edo and Ondo governorship elections. This update follows a recent commission meeting and was announced by Sam Olumekun, National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee.
