Expressing strong opposition to the purported congress, the leaders of the Edo State PDP outrightly reject the outcomes of the alleged ward congresses. Upon closer examination of the entire proceedings, the party leaders have deemed the entire process a sham, marked by blatant manipulation.

According to Vasco, the National Organising Secretary’s office released three conflicting letters detailing the composition of officials overseeing the congress at both the ward and local government levels. The final letter included the names of incumbent government officials from Edo and Delta States, raising concerns about the integrity of the process.

The state’s publicity secretary highlighted that the affected nine aspirants reported these irregularities to the party’s national leadership, but no corrective action has been taken. This has prompted questions about the fairness advocated by the National Working Committee (NWC) in its engagements with stakeholders leading up to the congress.

The PDP leadership is now urging all party members to unite in demanding rectification of the observed irregularities from the recent weekend’s purported election. Additionally, they are calling for a complete cancellation of the entire exercise, emphasizing the need to address the identified infractions appropriately.
