The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has made an arrest in connection with an alleged €5.7 million internet fraud. The suspect, Ifechukwu Tom Makwe, who posed as a fake Senator, was apprehended in the Guzape area of Abuja based on credible intelligence received by the EFCC.

Investigations revealed that Makwe, known by various aliases such as Fahad Makwe, Senator Tompolo, Tom Makwe, and Dr. Bran, defrauded a Spanish national of €5.7 million.

Operating under false identities, he claimed to be a US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agent and a diplomatic solicitor.

According to reports, Makwe began his fraudulent activities in 2013 after meeting his victim on social media. The EFCC has stated that the suspect will be taken to court once the investigations are concluded.
