EFCC Delivers ₦84 Billion Fraud Charges To Yahaya Bello’s Lawyer....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has formally served Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi State, with a copy of the charge sheet alleging fraud amounting to ₦84 billion. This development came after Yahaya Bello failed to appear in court, following an order by Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

According to reports from Naija News, the charges against Bello, served through his legal representative, Abdulwahab Mohamed, consist of 19 counts of alleged money laundering, totaling ₦84 billion.

Following the provisions of section 384 (4 and 5) of the Administrative and Criminal Justice Act 2015, the judge directed Bello’s lawyer to receive the charge on his behalf, as personal service was not feasible.

Justice Nwite emphasized Bello’s failure to attend his arraignment, making it evident that substituted means of service were necessary. Despite initial resistance, Bello’s lawyer was compelled to accept the charges and proof of evidence.

The judge rejected the request for a junior lawyer to accept the charges on behalf of the former governor. Adedayo Adedipe, a member of the legal team, expressed Bello’s willingness to address the 19-count charge in court, citing concerns about receiving a fair trial.

Adedipe also appealed to the court to revoke the ex-parte arrest order against Bello, stating that his client had not been served with the charges at the time of the order.
