EFCC Media Chat Postponement Raises Questions As Public Awaits Updates

Originally set for 7:30 PM on January 19, 2025, the event was to be broadcast on major television networks. However, the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the change via the commission’s official X (formerly Twitter) account.
“The EFCC Executive Chairman, Ola Olukoyede’s chat with the media, earlier scheduled for 7:30 PM today, January 19, 2025, across major TV networks, has been postponed. A new date will be announced,” the statement read.
While no reason was given for the delay, the EFCC assured the public that a revised schedule for the media engagement would be communicated in due course.
In related news, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) apprehended a 26-year-old Nigerian nursing student, Esther Onyinyechi Uzodinma, at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) in Kano. Esther, a student at Noida International University in Uttar Pradesh, India, was caught attempting to smuggle 76 wraps of cocaine by ingestion.
NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi disclosed that Esther, who was scheduled to travel to Delhi, India, via Qatar Airways flight 1432 on Friday, January 17, 2025, was arrested on Thursday, January 16, at the Royal Park Hotel in Sabon Gari, Kano, at approximately 11:30 PM.
