The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Adamawa State in the 2023 election, Aishatu Ahmed, popularly known as Binani, has dismissed rumors suggesting her departure from the party.
Binani, who ran for governor while serving as a senator for Adamawa Central Zone, reaffirmed her allegiance to the APC, declaring that no external influence could compel her to leave the party.
Speaking on Sunday during an event in Yola organized by one of her support groups, Binani addressed the speculation through her representative, Mijinyawa Kugama, at the inauguration of the executives for the “Gladiators for Binani Only” group.
“We have not left the party. We are founding members of the APC, and no force, not even Jupiter, can compel us to abandon it,” she asserted.
Binani also expressed gratitude to her supporters for their steadfast commitment during the 2023 elections, acknowledging their efforts that enabled her to mount a strong challenge against the incumbent Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, despite her narrow defeat.
Umar Mustapha, a prominent politician and ally of Binani, highlighted the importance of the Gladiators group in fostering unity among Adamawa’s diverse ethnic communities. He described it as a crucial platform for building a coalition to reclaim the state from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2027 general elections.
Himaga Yayirus, the group’s founder and state coordinator, reiterated their dedication to securing APC’s victory in 2027, applauding Binani’s vision of poverty alleviation and empowerment for the underprivileged.
Key executives of the Gladiators for Binani Only were inaugurated during the event, including Maryam Waziri as Secretary and Rhoda Nuhu as Women Leader, among others.
