Earlier, there was a dispute between Bello’s media team and the EFCC regarding the former governor’s visit to the EFCC headquarters. Bello’s team claimed that the ex-governor had voluntarily visited the EFCC to address allegations of an N80.2 billion fraud but was not questioned and was told to leave.
The EFCC spokesperson denied that Bello was in their custody and reiterated that Bello remains a wanted individual due to the charges against him. The EFCC had previously declared Bello wanted in April after failed attempts to arrest him.
In response, Bello’s media team accused the EFCC of a “Gestapo-like” attack on the Kogi Government Lodge, emphasizing that the former governor had willingly appeared at the EFCC office and should not have been pursued further. They also stated that Bello had been accompanied by Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo during his visit to the EFCC.
The EFCC’s Dele Oyewale maintained that the former governor was not in their custody, and the search for him continues.
