Some officers from the Nigeria Police Force Motor Traffic Division (MTD) are expressing complaints about the delayed release of their promotions compared to their colleagues on general duties.

They have issued a threat to embark on an indefinite strike if their demands are continuously ignored by the authorities.

The affected traffic wardens, who wish to remain anonymous due to fear of victimization, explained that the immediate past Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Baba Alkali, had ordered an assessment based on years of service and experience as a precondition for their promotion on June 13, 2023.

They expressed dissatisfaction with the delay in the release of their promotions and voiced concerns about the unfair treatment they have been facing in terms of promotions and welfare within the police authorities.

The traffic wardens made it clear that if their promotions are not released promptly, they will have no choice but to resort to a strike.

They appealed for immediate attention to their plight, emphasizing their status as law-abiding citizens of the police force and warning of the consequences if their concerns are not addressed.
