El-Rufai Drops Bombshell: ADC Just A Stopgap, New Political Party In The Works

While the ADC currently serves as the coalition’s official platform for the 2027 elections, El-Rufai expressed concern over the potential for infiltration and destabilization by the APC.
“The alliance within the ADC is a temporary arrangement. We’re considering the registration of a new party as a fallback option if the government engineers a crisis within the ADC,” El-Rufai said.
He also accused the APC-led administration of using anti-corruption agencies like the EFCC, ICPC, and the Code of Conduct Bureau as tools to coerce political opponents into submission.
“Those who refuse to defect to the APC are being threatened with investigations,” he alleged.
El-Rufai further warned that the ruling party might incite long-standing ADC members to revolt against the coalition’s leadership, sparking internal conflicts that could undermine the movement.
“There’s a risk that the APC could provoke unrest within the ADC by turning its older members against the new leadership,” he cautioned.
Naija News previously reported that the ADC was officially adopted on Wednesday by a broad opposition front—including influential figures like Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and El-Rufai—as the platform to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
