El-Rufai Put In His Place: Presidency Delivers Blistering Rebuke

Dare emphasized that there are many politicians with broader appeal and greater electoral influence than El-Rufai—individuals who are more pivotal to Nigeria’s progress.

This statement follows El-Rufai’s recent comment suggesting that the opposition coalition would unseat President Tinubu and send him “back to Lagos” in the 2027 general elections.

In an episode of Mic on a Podcast published Saturday, Dare responded strongly, saying El-Rufai holds no superior electoral value over other Nigerians.

“Is El-Rufai the 110 million eligible voters in Nigeria? Even if he influences some, does he control how they vote?” Dare asked.

He added, “I respect him, but placing El-Rufai on a pedestal as though he embodies the will of Nigerians is an exaggeration. He is not above any citizen—everyone has a stake in the future of this country.”

Dare confidently stated that President Tinubu would secure re-election in 2027, citing the far-reaching reforms initiated under his administration.

According to him, economic experts project that Nigerians will begin to see the tangible impact of these reforms within four to six years.

He elaborated on the government’s strides: “Across sectors like solid minerals—especially lithium and copper—there has been renewed focus. In the oil sector, we’ve witnessed significant progress. In education, agriculture, and health, major initiatives are underway. For example, 5,000 primary health centres are being revitalized, and 1,000 are already fully operational.”

Highlighting the administration’s development agenda, Dare concluded, “This government has introduced an unprecedented volume of reforms in just two years. President Tinubu is a leader who understands that Nigeria, despite its vast potential, has long underperformed—and he is working to change that.”
