The Elections Petition Tribunal in Calabar has confirmed the election victory of Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, who represents Cross River North in the National Assembly.

In the suit numbered EPT/CR/SEN/02/2023, the former governor of Cross River State, Ben Ayade, sought to annul the senatorial election held on February 25, 2023, alleging widespread malpractices and violations of the electoral act. Ayade also disputed the results from approximately 377 polling units in the northern senatorial election.

Following a lengthy and detailed judgment that spanned five hours and fourteen minutes, the tribunal dismissed the petition, citing insufficient evidence to invalidate the election.

Additionally, the tribunal struck down certain pieces of evidence, including the presidential result sheet presented by the petitioners, as it contradicted what had been claimed in their sworn written statement.
