The prolonged outage was traced to the vandalism of TCN towers on March 11, 2025, which led to the collapse of four critical structures.

“TCN has completed reconstruction work and successfully restored bulk power supply through the 132kV Owerri-Ahoada transmission line as of 6:00 pm on April 11, 2025,” the statement read.

“This reconnection allows PHEDC to resume electricity distribution to Bayelsa and parts of Rivers State, which were thrown into darkness following the destruction of towers 71 to 74 on the route.”
