Former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, faces fresh legal trouble as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has lodged another charge against him at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory. The charge alleges that Emefiele approved the printing of N684,590,000 with N18.96 billion, as part of the naira swap policy during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

He was suspended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on June 9, 2023, and since then, the management of the CBN during his tenure has been under investigation by the government.
