Luis Har, aged 70, and Fernando Simon Marman, aged 60, shared tearful reunions with their loved ones at Sheba Hospital after being airlifted from the southern Gaza city of Rafah.

Accompanying the heartwarming scenes were reports of casualties from airstrikes, with around 100 Palestinians losing their lives during the rescue mission, as reported by the health ministry in the Hamas-controlled territory.

Speaking from the hospital near Tel Aviv where the rescued men were receiving medical attention, Har’s son-in-law described the emotional scenes: “There were many tears, hugs, but few words exchanged.”

He added, “While we are grateful that they have been saved, our mission is not complete. This is just one step towards bringing all remaining hostages home.”

The families endured an agonizing wait, grappling with rumors and uncertainty as militants released videos of the captives. Dozens of journalists gathered at Sheba Hospital, capturing the emotional moments as patients were wheeled through the halls.

Marman’s niece, Gefen Sigal Ilan, expressed her disbelief and relief at her uncle’s rescue, stating, “When I saw him, I couldn’t believe it was real.”

She affirmed the families’ determination to secure the release of the remaining hostages held in Gaza, declaring, “We will not rest until all hostages are free.”

The two men were abducted from kibbutz Nir Yitzhak in southern Israel, with the rescue operation audible from the nearby rural community. Kibbutz manager Moshe Schori recounted the tense night, marked by explosions and uncertainty, until news of the successful rescue emerged in the morning.
