Emotions Run High As Foluke Daramola, Others Attend Tope Osoba’s Burial

Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba, popularly known as Tope Osoba, has been laid to rest in Iperu Remo, Ogun State, following a funeral service held in her honour.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the actress’ remains were conveyed from the Ogun State University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, to Akesan Club in Iperu Remo, where family members, friends, colleagues and other mourners gathered to bid her a final farewell. The burial service was followed by her interment at the Iperu Remo Cemetery, with mourners dressed predominantly in white in line with the family’s request.

Among those who turned out to honour the late actress were several Nollywood personalities, including Foluke Daramola, Kunle Afod, Joke Jigan and Basira Badia, who joined family members and friends in paying their last respects.

Osoba, who died in August 2026 at the age of 40, had spent close to two decades in the Nigerian film industry and was recognised for her contributions to Yoruba-language cinema. She had previously spoken publicly about her battle with breast cancer and announced her recovery and return to acting in 2025.

Her death, however, was followed by controversy over the circumstances surrounding her final days, with conflicting accounts reportedly emerging from her fiancé, Prophet Itunu Onadeko, and members of her family. Some industry figures subsequently called for further investigation and an autopsy to establish what happened before her death.

The controversy prompted the family to caution the public against circulating unverified information, urging people to rely on official statements regarding the circumstances surrounding the actress’ passing.

Osoba’s burial had initially been scheduled for August 13 but was later postponed indefinitely before the family announced the new arrangements for her final rites. Her remains left OSUTH Sagamu ahead of the funeral service at Akesan Club, with the interment taking place immediately afterwards at the Iperu Remo Cemetery.
