Governor Radda underscored the dominance of the youth in the country’s larger population and stressed the necessity for every administration to prioritize youth-focused initiatives. He emphasized the need for strategic plans and programs aimed at engaging and fully employing the youth to drive the nation’s economy.

Reflecting on his observations during the election campaign in 361 wards across Katsina State, Governor Radda expressed concern about the potential consequences of neglecting youth development. He highlighted the risk of youth idleness becoming a breeding ground for recruitment by criminal elements and emphasized the urgency of addressing this issue.

Governor Radda disclosed that Katsina State, being agrarian, has directed its youth empowerment programs towards the agricultural development value chain. He also mentioned the state’s commitment to Information and Communication Technology (ICT) development. He stressed the importance of introducing robust youth development programs to take them off the streets and engage them in productive activities.

During the visit, Governor Radda sought collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Development to explore and integrate state-specific initiatives. He expressed interest in understanding the ministry’s existing youth development programs and finding areas for collaboration, synergy, and knowledge-sharing.

In response, Minister Jamila Bio-Ibrahim expressed enthusiasm about partnering with Katsina State. She commended the governor’s policies and dedication, emphasizing the ministry’s interest in sustainable programs that respect the agricultural chain and contribute to a valuable ecosystem. The minister highlighted cotton as a major commodity in Katsina State, expressing the ministry’s intention to engage a significant percentage of youths in related initiatives.
