In a candid discussion on “Nollywood on Radio,” a show focused on Nigerian cinema, Ajao shared that this was the most painful experience she had ever faced. “I almost poisoned myself because of false news circulating about me online,” she said. “It was the first time I encountered something so devastating. I didn’t eat for seven straight days, and those around me can attest to that—I stayed home and isolated myself.”

At the time, she was also trying to plan her next film, which became increasingly challenging due to her emotional distress. Her son stepped in to support her, reaching out to friends and family to explain her struggle with the falsehoods being spread about her. “My sisters called, urging me to take care of myself and not to resort to such extremes. My son was reaching out to everyone, letting them know I was dealing with this online lie,” she recalled.

Reflecting on the ordeal, Ajao expressed, “I honestly don’t want to remember those times.
