Enugu State Bans Unapproved Healthcare Outreach Programs....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
This announcement was made by the State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Ikechukwu Obi, through a statement issued on Saturday in Enugu.
Obi emphasized that any individual or organization planning to conduct medical services, including health outreach programs, must first apply for and obtain a permit from the Ministry of Health.
He explained that the ban aligns with Governor Peter Mbah’s ongoing efforts to prioritize the safety and wellbeing of the state’s residents. According to Obi, investigations revealed that some medical outreaches were using products that were either expired or close to expiration, leading to health complications for participants.
The commissioner also raised concerns about the qualifications of the practitioners involved in these activities.
“Only certified professionals should conduct medical outreaches, ensuring proper diagnosis and treatment,” Obi stated.
He further added, “The Enugu State Ministry of Health has observed with concern that certain organizations are carrying out health services without obtaining the necessary approvals. Moving forward, both public and private institutions must seek authorization from the Ministry to ensure all medical services are provided by qualified professionals, using appropriate equipment, and following standard operating procedures.”
This measure aims to safeguard the public and ensure that medical interventions within the state are safe and effective.
