The Super Falconets of Nigeria have kicked off their final preparations for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup with a 1-0 victory over hosts Poland in an international friendly.

The match was played on Friday, August 28, at the Municipal Stadium in Brzeg, Poland.

Mary Mamudu scored the decisive goal in first-half stoppage time, finding the back of the net in the 45th minute plus one to give Nigeria the advantage heading into the break.

The official Super Falcons X account confirmed the result shortly after the final whistle.

Neither team was able to score after the interval as the Falconets successfully defended their lead to secure victory over Poland’s U-20 women’s side.

The encounter was the first of two warm-up matches lined up as part of Nigeria’s final preparations for the upcoming FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

The tournament is scheduled to take place in Poland from August 31 to September 22, 2026.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) had earlier confirmed that the Falconets would face Poland on August 28 before taking on South Korea on September 1.

Nigeria will compete in Group F alongside Spain, China PR and New Caledonia as the Falconets aim to go one step further in their quest for a maiden U-20 Women’s World Cup title.

The Nigerian side has previously finished as runners-up twice, in 2010 and 2014, but is yet to lift the trophy.
