A coalition of influential leaders from Esan Land has written a compelling appeal to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), His Excellency Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, urging the party to grant Hon. Prince Odianosen Okojie the right of first refusal for the Edo Central Senatorial ticket in the upcoming elections. The letter, also addressed to the Edo State Chairman of APC, Hon. Khalifa Jarret Tenebe, and the Executive Governor of Edo State, His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo, highlights Okojie’s exceptional leadership, political acumen, and dedication to the party and the people of Esan.
Hon. Prince Okojie, who currently represents Esan South-East/Esan North-East in the House of Representatives, has been praised for his work as the Chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Midstream). His tenure has seen significant benefits for both Esan and the wider Nigerian population. His contributions to the APC have been transformative, and his ability to engage and mobilize grassroots support has made him a beloved figure in Esan Land.
A crucial element of Okojie’s success has been the strong partnership with his wife, Mercy Johnson Okojie, a celebrated actress with a powerful influence in Nigerian media. Through her advocacy, public support for her husband’s policies, and tireless philanthropic work, Mercy Johnson Okojie has played a key role in strengthening APC’s grassroots network, particularly in Edo Central. Her efforts to elevate the party’s visibility and message on critical issues like healthcare, education, and community development have greatly enhanced Okojie’s political mission.
The letter underscores the urgent need for equitable representation in the Senate, particularly for Esan North-East, which has never been represented in the Senate despite its prominence in Edo Central. Esan leaders argue that Prince Okojie is the ideal candidate to correct this imbalance and bring the district the representation it has long lacked. His grassroots popularity, coupled with his record of service, makes him the most qualified candidate to carry forward the APC’s agenda and ensure the district benefits from meaningful representation in the Senate.
The appeal concludes by urging the APC leadership to prioritize Okojie’s candidacy, noting that his leadership would guarantee that Esan’s development needs are met and that the APC’s presence in Edo Central is strengthened. The leaders express confidence that with Okojie in the Senate, Esan will not only have a strong voice but also a leader committed to delivering transformative governance for the people.
