Vice Chancellor Professor Aloysius-Michaels Okolie announced the dismissals during a press briefing on August 21, 2024, in Agbani, Enugu State. The decision followed the 179th meeting of the University’s Governing Council, chaired by Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa.

The offenses included extortion, result manipulation, dual employment, fabricating transcripts, and misappropriating funds totaling N98,259,314.65. Professor Okolie emphasized the university’s commitment to addressing these issues by implementing stringent measures to prevent future occurrences.

The Vice Chancellor also praised Governor Barr. Peter Mbah for his support, which helped in the accreditation of the Nursing Sciences and Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science programs and for funding equipment for new programs. The university is committed to upholding the Governor’s vision to enhance educational quality and integrity at ESUT.
