European Giants Roar! Barcelona, PSG, Arsenal, Liverpool Make Winning Champions League Starts

Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal and Liverpool all began their UEFA Champions League league-phase campaigns with victories on Wednesday, although Liverpool had to come from behind to defeat Atletico Madrid at Anfield.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Barcelona produced the most emphatic result of the night, defeating Feyenoord 5-1 at Camp Nou. Raphinha scored twice, while Karim Adeyemi, Lamine Yamal and substitute Gabriel Jesus were also on target for Hansi Flick’s side.

The victory extended Barcelona’s perfect start to the season, while Gabriel Jesus marked his arrival from Arsenal with his first goal for the Catalan club.

Defending champions Paris Saint-Germain also made an impressive start, recording a 6-1 victory over Slovan Bratislava in Paris. Ousmane Dembele scored twice and also provided an assist for Ferran Torres, who completed a hat-trick after the interval.

Fabian Ruiz added PSG’s sixth goal, while Suleiman Camara scored what proved to be a consolation for the visitors.

Arsenal, meanwhile, secured a narrow 1-0 victory away to Napoli. Captain Martin Ødegaard settled the contest in the 75th minute with a well-placed left-footed strike from outside the box.

The Gunners dominated large portions of the encounter and created several opportunities before eventually finding the breakthrough. They subsequently held firm to preserve their clean sheet and claim all three points.

Liverpool faced a tougher challenge against Atletico Madrid after Marcos Llorente put the Spanish side ahead in the 17th minute. The Premier League champions responded before the interval when Dominik Szoboszlai restored parity.

Alexis Mac Allister then completed Liverpool’s comeback five minutes into the second half, giving Arne Slot’s side a winning start to their European campaign.

In Lisbon, Sporting CP also overturned an early deficit to defeat Galatasaray 3-1. The Turkish side took the lead in the sixth minute through an own goal before Geny Catamo levelled the contest before half-time.

Luis Suárez subsequently put Sporting ahead from the penalty spot, while Rodrigo Zalazar sealed the victory with an impressive free-kick.

Elsewhere, VfB Stuttgart defeated Viking 3-1 as the six fixtures produced 22 goals in an entertaining opening round of Champions League league-phase action.
