Ex-Employee Shares Story Of Abandonment By Akeredolu’s Wife Despite Meager Salary....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Folasade Adu, a former aide to the immediate past First Lady of Ondo State, Betty Akeredolu, has come forward with allegations of abandonment after dedicating seven years of service to the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s wife.
Adu claims that during her tenure, she received a monthly salary of N50,000, with N5,100 consistently deducted, leaving her in financial and emotional distress.
In an emotional interview with Ondo-based journalist Prince Olujimi Adekale on Monday, April 22, 2024, Adu recounted her experiences and the events leading to her departure from her role.
She expressed disappointment at the lack of support or acknowledgment from Mrs. Akeredolu upon reaching out for assistance after resigning.
“When I approached Mrs. Akeredolu for help after leaving my position, she outright refused, citing a lack of authority to assist,” Adu stated, revealing a feeling of betrayal and abandonment.
Detailing her time working under Mrs. Akeredolu, Adu emotionally shared, “I worked for Her Excellency (Mrs. Betty Akeredolu) for more than seven years. When I left, she didn’t offer anything. I served as her makeup artist, doing her hair and pedicure.”
Explaining the salary deductions, she revealed, “I was paid N50,000, but N5,000 was routinely given back to BRECAN, along with a N100 charge. Mrs. Akeredolu instructed that 10% of our salary be given to BRECAN.”
BRECAN, founded by Mrs. Akeredolu, focuses on breast cancer awareness and support.
Adu further alleged that Mrs. Akeredolu declined to offer any form of assistance after her husband’s passing, claiming she was no longer in a position to help.
Despite reaching out for aid, Adu claimed Mrs. Akeredolu cited her lack of authority, leaving her without recourse.
Now unemployed and struggling financially, Adu appealed for support to reopen her shop, as her husband is also without work.
“I want the people of Ondo State to help me because, as of now, there is nothing. I have been thinking and crying every day. I need help to reopen my shop,” she pleaded.
