Ex-Presidential Aide, Reno Omokri Reveals The Real Winner of the Controversial Edo Guber Poll, His Shocking Take Will Leave You Speechless Written By Oshiobugie John Former Presidential aide under the Peoples Democratic Party, Reno Omokri, has stirred up discourse with his recent analysis of the hotly contested Edo gubernatorial election conducted by INEC. Senator Okpebholo clinched victory with 291,667 votes, edging out Dr. Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party, who garnered 247,655 votes. The result, seen as a triumph for APC supporters, sparked jubilation across Edo State.
However, Reno Omokri, via his social media platforms, offered a provocative perspective on the outcome. He suggested that without the influence of political godfathers, Dr. Ighodalo would have emerged triumphant over Senator Okpebholo. Omokri criticized what he termed “Obaseki’s flawed political strategies,” which he believes tainted Dr. Ighodalo’s chances and led to his defeat.
In his commentary, Omokri remarked:
“The Edo election was largely transparent and reflected the will of the people. The emotional reactions, mostly from outsiders, obscure this fact. I have deep ties to Edo State and am well-informed on its pulse.
Emotions have their place in activism and romance, but not in deciding election outcomes. To win, one must be strategic and rational.
This election was essentially a clash of political influencers. It wasn’t about Ighodalo vs. Okpebholo directly; rather, it was Obaseki vs. Oshiomhole and Shaibu. Had it been a fair fight between Ighodalo and Okpebholo, devoid of godfather politics, Ighodalo would likely have prevailed.
The lesson here is clear: in politics, addition trumps subtraction. Obaseki’s miscalculations and reliance on incumbency couldn’t match the grassroots mobilization of Oshiomhole and Shaibu. Despite social media noise, elections are won on the ground, not online.”
