Nollywood actress, Jemima Osunde, has expressed her discontent with the growing trend affecting casting decisions in the industry.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a recent conversation with fellow actor Jammal Ibrahim, Osunde revealed that filmmakers are now demanding actors to be social media influencers before considering them for roles. According to Osunde, actors without a strong online presence are being largely overlooked for movie parts.
She said, “It seems now that filmmakers are insisting every actor must be a social media content creator to land a role. It’s like you have to dance on the internet to get cast. Why is that?”
Osunde further emphasized, “It feels like if you’re not an actor with a significant social media following, you’re not getting a role, as they need you to help sell the film. But that shouldn’t be the actor’s responsibility.”
Jammal Ibrahim echoed similar sentiments, adding, “That’s where good management comes in. For example, I told my team that I’m not a dancer. A good manager should understand your personality and find ways to work with that to improve you, not force you to become something you’re not.”
He concluded, “If a PR stunt for a film involves dancing, I won’t be a part of it unless it’s something I can do. I don’t want to look foolish on screen—it just doesn’t suit my personality.”
