He emphasized that without verifiable proof, her claims would remain mere accusations. Speaking to journalists on Friday, Adeyanju remarked that the controversy between Akpoti-Uduaghan and Akpabio had been excessively discussed and overshadowed more pressing national issues.
He urged Nigerians to focus on critical matters like the Tax Reform Bill, which could negatively impact low- and middle-income earners, rather than engaging in prolonged political drama.
Adeyanju also questioned why there was no public outrage when lawmakers in the National Assembly benefited from car distributions, monetary allocations, and budget approvals.
“The matter has been exhausted. I believe both parties should take their grievances to court for resolution. Our focus should be on stopping the passage of the tax reform bill, which is more important than this ongoing controversy,” he stated.
He criticized senators involved in the dispute for failing to oppose anti-people policies implemented by the current administration.
“Where were these senators when unfavorable policies of the Tinubu administration were being enacted? Why didn’t they speak out against them? Now, they are fighting over allegations of sexual harassment and embarrassment to the Senate, but remained silent on critical national issues,” Adeyanju argued.
He further insisted that Senator Natasha, having accused Akpabio of sexual harassment, should make public any credible evidence she has, especially since the Senate has refused to grant her a fair hearing.
“If she has messages or any form of proof—whether invitations or inappropriate requests—she should release them and expose the man. After all, the burden of proof lies on the accuser. Why shield him if the allegations are true?” he added.
