An eyewitness has disclosed the cause behind the tragic boat accident resulting in the demise of Nollywood actor John Paul Odonwodo, famously known as Junior Pope, on Wednesday, April 10.

As previously reported by LIB, the actor lost his life in a drowning incident while on a boat returning from a movie shoot.

According to the eyewitness, the boat carrying Junior Pope collided with another boat transporting passengers, leading to both vessels capsizing in the river.

The witness explained that the operator of Junior Pope’s boat failed to spot the approaching vessel in time, resulting in the collision. Unfortunately, there were no divers available to assist in rescuing the victims.

Additionally, the witness revealed that some of the victims managed to hold onto the rope of a capsized boat, eventually finding refuge on another boat until help arrived. Fortunately, assistance arrived promptly when individuals aboard another vessel spotted them and rendered aid.

Currently, three bodies, including that of Junior Pope, have been recovered, while efforts continue to locate the remaining victims.
