The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has reassured passengers and staff at Lagos airport about their safety and security following a cable short circuit incident on Thursday. Mrs. Obiageli Orah, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, issued a statement on Friday in Lagos, acknowledging the electrical short circuit that occurred at the E-arrival hall of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport old terminal around 11:20 am. She emphasized that the incident did not disrupt airport operations.

The occurrence, which caused panic among passengers as a fire broke out at the E-Arrival Finger of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, was promptly addressed to ensure the safety of everyone present. Orah explained that in response to the incident, the power supply to that specific section of the airport was immediately turned off. The Engineering department swiftly mobilized to identify the source of the spark, and the suspected cable was promptly cut to stop the power flow.

Despite the tense situation, the incident lasted only a few minutes, and normalcy was quickly restored. Orah affirmed that airport operations were never disrupted during the incident. She reiterated that the safety and security of passengers and staff are of utmost priority for Murtala Muhammed International Airport.
