A Kaduna State High Court has handed down a three-year imprisonment sentence to Abdulazeez Isah for falsely portraying himself as an operative of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Isah, who was brought before the court by the Kaduna Zonal Command of the EFCC, faced a one-count charge related to impersonation. The charge accused him of committing the offense in November 2023 in Kaduna, wherein he knowingly presented himself as an EFCC staff to the public. This act was deemed a violation of Section 142(1) of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law, 2017.
Upon his arrest, Isah confessed to financing the production of counterfeit T-shirts, identity cards, and caps bearing the EFCC logo, which were discovered in his possession. Subsequently, he entered a guilty plea when the charge was read to him. Justice A. Isiaka, presiding over the case, convicted and sentenced him to three years in prison or a fine of N150,000 (One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira).
