Police officers from the Isheri-Osun Police Division have apprehended an individual purportedly posing as a Sergeant Major (RSM) named Femi Balogun, who was found dressed in full military camouflage attire.
The arrest occurred around 3 pm on Saturday, March 31, in Ijegun, a riverine community notorious for pipeline vandalism and known to harbor criminals. Sources within the police department indicated that the suspect, who was allegedly on the Nigerian Army’s wanted list, was detained by officers on visibility patrol along Fagbile Estate in Ijegun.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed the arrest, stating that after interrogation, the military authorities confirmed Balogun to be an impostor. Hundeyin further declared that following the conclusion of the investigation, appropriate charges would be brought against the suspect in court.
The arrest of the alleged fake soldier underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat criminal activities and maintain security within communities.
