Gunmen targeted a mosque in Angwar Makera, Kwasakwasa Community, located in the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, resulting in the tragic death of two individuals during Friday prayers.

The assault took place around 2 pm, and reports indicate that the assailants, identified as bandits, unleashed gunfire upon worshippers. Hudu Kwasakwasa, a community leader, confirmed the incident to journalists, revealing that the victims were among several Muslims attacked at the Juma’at Mosque in Angwar Makera. The attackers not only shot worshippers but also abducted others during the assault.

“The two worshipers killed were among other Muslims attacked at the Juma’at Mosque in Angwar Makera when the bandits opened fire on them and abducted others today. The victims have been buried at Old Kuyello cemetery,” stated Hudu Kwasakwasa.

The attack occurred during the second raka’at of the salat, forcing those present to flee for their lives. Kwasakwasa noted that a similar incident had occurred a few days prior when the same bandits abducted nine people from Angwar Kanawa, situated in the Kwasakwasa area.

This tragic event follows closely on the heels of another daring attack, as just 24 hours prior, the same group of bandits abducted over 287 students in the neighboring Chikun Local Government Area of the state.

Upon reaching out to the Police Public Relations Officer of the state, ASP Mansir Hassan, for comments, he indicated his participation in a security meeting and simply stated.
