Expressing his dismay on Tuesday, Fayemi characterized the killings as an appalling act of violence in a state that has been relatively peaceful. He extended his condolences to the families of the deceased monarchs, the state government, and the residents, emphasizing the need for decisive action by security agencies against the perpetrators. Fayemi highlighted the alarming increase in kidnapping activities across the country in the New Year and stressed the necessity of an all-of-society approach to address this national problem.
Fayemi stated, “I express my deepest condolences to the government and people of Ekiti state over this unfortunate incident. My heart aches for the families, friends, and communities affected by this appalling act of violence, as such acts have no place in our society. The country has witnessed an upsurge in the activity of kidnappers since the start of the New Year, and Ekiti state, which has been relatively peaceful, also appears to be experiencing an increase in this heinous criminality.”
While urging security agencies to take decisive actions against the criminals, Fayemi emphasized the importance of a collective effort to tackle the issue. He expressed solidarity with the government and people of Ekiti State, encouraging increased vigilance among the populace. Fayemi called for a swift and thorough investigation into the crime, emphasizing the necessity of holding the perpetrators accountable for their actions, as such acts of violence cannot be tolerated.
