Last week, the Supreme Court had reserved its judgment on the appeal filed by Binani and the APC.

After deliberating on the arguments presented by all parties involved in the case, the five-member panel, led by Justice John Okoro, concluded on Wednesday that Dahiru’s appeal lacked merit.

The judgment specifically criticized the actions of the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Hudu Ari, denouncing them as “irresponsible and criminal.”

This criticism arises from the controversy surrounding the announcement of election results in Adamawa State.

Justice Okoro underscored that, according to the Electoral Act, the exclusive responsibility for declaring election results rests with the returning officer. Emphasizing the importance of this protocol, he highlighted its significance in preventing chaos and anarchy during the electoral process.
