Speaking on Friday during an interview with TVC, Fayose claimed the money was given to Makinde as support related to the 2024 explosion in Ibadan. He accused the Oyo governor of deliberately withholding this information from the public when discussing his meeting with President Tinubu.

“The President of Nigeria intended to give you the ministerial slot, but circumstances didn’t allow it. Yet, you did not tell Nigerians that you received ₦50 billion from him in support of the Ibadan explosion. The president never disclosed that,” Fayose said.

He further alleged that the ₦50 billion went directly to Makinde during his meeting with Tinubu but was omitted from the governor’s recent press briefing, where Makinde only mentioned rejecting the President’s request to help organize the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State.

“The ₦50 billion never entered Oyo State’s coffers. You only highlighted the part where you said the president asked you to organize APC, which you declined. You didn’t tell Nigerians what the President did for you or for the people of your state,” Fayose added.

During the same press briefing, Makinde announced that he would not support President Tinubu’s reelection bid in 2027.
