Programme, has announced that the Federal Government is poised to aid states in addressing poverty, mitigating basic infrastructural deficits, ensuring food security, and supporting small and nano businesses.

Obaje made this announcement during a courtesy visit to Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba in Jalingo on Wednesday.

He emphasized that with full support from the states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the implementation of NG-CARES would enhance access to livelihood support, food security services, and grants for vulnerable households and firms nationwide.

NG-CARES operates as a Performance for Results (PforR) program, with states and the FCT receiving reimbursements for funding developments based on agreed-upon protocols.

Obaje explained, “The reimbursement is based on earned results which translates into a corresponding amount much higher than what the sub-national invested.

He noted that Taraba had drawn down only $3.98 million out of the nominal allocation of $20 million to each state since the program’s inception.

He urged the state government to provide more support, emphasizing that increased support would lead to better performance, more results, and additional funds for the state.

Governor Kefas expressed the state government’s commitment to fully support the NG-CARES Programme in Taraba.

He encouraged the implementation departments and agencies to work diligently and adhere to the guidelines outlined in the Implementation Manual to achieve better results for the state.
