Federal Government Initiates Disbursement Of November Wage Award....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

This action is part of the agreement forged between the government and organized labor to mitigate the consequences of subsidy removal on Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol.

Numerous federal civil servants have affirmed the decision to recommence wage award payments in individual discussions with Punch on Tuesday.

The resumption follows a period of suspension that garnered criticism from activists and stakeholders, underscoring the government’s dedication to upholding its pact with the workforce.

Amid apprehensions about the government’s fiscal adjustments, which include a N100 billion reduction in the wage award allocation in the 2023 supplementary budget, both the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) expressed discontent.

The unions characterized the government’s prior suspension of payments as dishonorable and urged the reinstatement of wage awards, hinting at potential industrial action if their demands remained unaddressed.

A senior civil servant, opting for anonymity, conveyed to PUNCH Online, “Payment was received this morning, and others in my agency have also confirmed receipt.”

Similarly, another senior official from a Federal Government-owned school outside Abuja has corroborated the receipt of the November 2023 wage award.
