Governor Idris emphasized that the Kebbi State Government, in partnership with the Federal Government, has finalized plans to supply petrol to farmers at no cost for dry season farming. He revealed that discussions with the former governor and current Minister of Economic Planning, Sen. Abubakar Atiku-Bagudu, led to an agreement to offer petroleum to farmers, with the goal of enhancing farming activities across the state and ensuring food security.
Furthermore, Governor Idris outlined initiatives to support farmers, including the distribution of 12,000 solar-powered water pumps, with 6,000 already distributed, to enhance crop yields. The state government also plans to acquire 20,000 units of compressed natural gas-powered water pumps as a backup to the solar pumps, aiming to extend the benefits to more farmers.
Governor Idris, while urging farmers to increase their efforts, highlighted the crucial role their contributions play in maintaining Kebbi State’s leadership in food production and contributing to national food security.
In his call to action, Governor Idris encouraged the residents of Yauri/Shanga/Ngaski federal constituency to actively participate in the upcoming by-election, supporting the APC candidate, Alhaji Garba Umar-Uba. The formal launch of the campaign was marked by the presentation of the party’s flag to the candidate by the APC chairman in the state, Alhaji Abubakar Kana-Zuru, symbolizing the commencement of the campaign activities.
