The conflict, which spanned 15 months, resulted in the banning of RTEAN activities in Lagos State due to internal leadership disputes within the association. Consequently, the government imposed a ban and appointed a 35-man Caretaker Committee to oversee the union’s affairs.

However, the intervention by the National Security Adviser’s office has led to a mutually agreed-upon resolution of all outstanding issues. RTEAN’s General Secretary, Comrade Yusuf Ibrahim Adeniyi, announced that the meeting between the Federal Government and organized labor resulted in key decisions.

One significant outcome was the resolution of the contentious issue of RTEAN leadership, culminating in the unanimous appointment of Comrade Adesina Teslim Hussaini, also known as Okolomo, as the new state chairman of RTEAN Lagos State, effective from January 1, 2024. Additionally, it was agreed that all properties previously taken from the union would be returned, and the operation of RTEAN in all motor parks in Lagos State would resume immediately.

Comrade Adeniyi assured RTEAN members that no victimization would occur from the union or the Lagos State Government based on their roles in the dispute. He urged members to adhere to the peaceful resolution and cooperate with the government and security agencies in their duties.

In response, the President of RTEAN, Musa Maitakobi, officially dissolved the union’s former structure of Lagos State Executives Council members and endorsed the appointment of Okolomo as the authentic chairman of the Lagos state branch of RTEAN. Maitakobi also announced the recall of members who were suspended during the course of the dispute in the interest of peace and harmony in the state.
