The 16 buses were allocated to the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), and the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO). Ekpo emphasized that the distribution of these CNG-powered buses is part of the government’s strategy to promote cleaner, more affordable alternatives to traditional fuel.

ā€œI am pleased to reaffirm the Federal Government’s commitment to addressing the transportation challenges faced by our citizens and transport operators,ā€ Ekpo said. ā€œThis initiative, led by the Presidential CNG Initiative in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Transportation, aims to promote CNG as a cleaner and more affordable fuel alternative.ā€

He further explained that the buses are not just vehicles, but a substantial investment in eco-friendly transportation. They reflect the government’s commitment to alleviating the burden on Nigerian commuters and transport operators.
