FG Announces Elimination Of 18-Year Admission Benchmark For Tertiary Education, Teases Upcoming Policy Review

The new Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, has announced the removal of the 18-year admission benchmark for tertiary institutions in Nigeria. He also suggested that his administration may undertake a review of the nation’s education policy.

However, Alausa emphasized that there will be no reversal of the federal government’s decision to invalidate over 22,700 degree certificates obtained by Nigerians from certain “fake” universities in neighboring Togo and Benin Republic. He made these statements during his inaugural ministerial press conference held in Abuja on Wednesday.
