The directive for the special train service was issued by the federal government through the Federal Ministry of Transportation. While the statement confirmed the approval, Mahmood stated that further details regarding the service’s schedule and operations would be provided to the public shortly.

The NRC’s statement read: “In compliance with the Federal Government’s directive through the Federal Ministry of Transportation, the management of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) informs the public that it will operate special end-of-year train services in celebration of Christmas and New Year festivities. This service is part of the government’s initiative to make the holiday season more enjoyable for travelers. The exact dates and operational details of the special train service will be communicated in due course. We wish all our valued customers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in advance.”

In related news, the Federal Government has also praised the personnel of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) for their critical role in combating insecurity and ensuring national peace. Minister of Defence, Muhammed Badaru, emphasized the importance of enhancing personnel training to ensure safety during operations. Badaru, who was represented by Dr. Ibrahim Kana, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence, made the remarks during the NAF Training, Operations, and Safety Seminar for 2024, held in Abuja on Wednesday.
