Dalijan reported that the explosion, which occurred around 8 a.m. on Wednesday, resulted in one fatality and left three others injured. The blast was caused by a bomb planted under a bridge by members of the Lakurawa terrorist group. The bomb detonated when a commercial driver, transporting passengers to Dansadau, inadvertently triggered the device.
In an interview with Daily Trust, Commissioner Dalijan provided further details, stating that the explosion was linked to remnants of the Lakurawa militants, who are being pressured by the Nigerian military to vacate the country. The terrorists are reportedly attempting to flee towards the Birnin-Gwari forest, which lies along the border between Zamfara and Kaduna states.
Dalijan expressed confidence that security forces would eventually neutralize the group, stating, “By the grace of God, we will get them and deal with them decisively.” He also called on the public to assist with any information regarding the movements of the terrorists.
The police are continuing their investigation into the attack, and authorities remain determined to eliminate the threat posed by the group.
